Today
Those yellow bodies
standing straight
in their watery grave
with their heads bowed
made me fall
backwards.
Swan feathers
covered my eyes
and I emerged
hungry and torn
in another world
with my heart
tangled among green.
God walked
among the people
in the fogs
that lasted days
and Mary
held out roses
to the invisible.
Walking in the rain
I never saw
something old
in the ancient
and now the ghosts
of daffodils
haunt the future.
