This evening I went to a Venomous Reptiles discussion at REI in Tempe which was led by Jeff Servoss, a Wildlife Educator and Biologist with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. It was pretty cool and I got to see a Gila Monster up close and personal. Now that I know more about it, it seems unlikely that I'll ever see one out in the wild, but I can still nope. The one thing I did not know and not sure I even wanted to know is that when bitten by a rattlesnake, expect to pay about $50,000 to $60,000 in medical bills. His 4 minute medivac helicopter ride was $18,000 all by itself. Note to self... avoid the mouth end.
The rest of my day concerned fashion. You know me, I hate clothes. I don't just hate clothes, I ^%::&++!NG HATE CLOTHES! I have no issues being nude anywhere or anytime it's warm enough to do so. With what I do wear, it sucks that I am forced to choose my clothing for the sake of others tastes rather than my own. I would be perfectly content to wear a t-shirt and a pareo on the trail but really don't want to deal with comments, even it's from people I will never see again. Today I went to Wal-Mart and picked up some mesh running shorts and shirt, and even though they are within my comfort level, I just feel dorky wearing them. It's sad, it really is. Clothes just suck.
