Once again I am thinking of getting a pair of rats. Maybe when I get back from my vacation.
Since I can't seem to find any healthy ones here in the Phoenix metro area I may drive down to Tucson and get a pair.
I'm not sure if I want a pair of females or a pair of males since each has their pros and cons. Males are much more affectionate but they are also much bigger. Females are smaller but not as affectionate. They tend to bond more to each other than to their owner. Liz always had male rats so I have no experience at all with female rats.
My biggest concern is with asthma. Though for a year I had no reaction to Liz's rats, later I began having serious breathing problems, serious enough to go to the ER, which is something I haven't had to do since I was a child. But, was it really the rats or some other unknown allergen? It was rather sudden that I started getting sick there. Maybe it will be ratties and Claritin.
